SDA Content
Plant-Based Omega-3
Sources of SDA (stearidonic acid) include the seed oils of black currant, echium, borage, and fish. The fatty acid composition of Soymega™ (SDA soybean oil) differs from conventional soybean oil in that ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) and SDA omega-3 fatty acids are increased with a subsequent decrease in linoleic acid. In addition, Soymega™ contains gamma-linolenic acid. Once in the body, SDA is more efficiently converted to heart-healthy EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) compared to ALA.
